Introduction to the Toxinomics Foundation
The Toxinomics Foundation has been officially created on June 8th 2006 by Prof André Ménez, Prof Dietrich Mebs and Dr Reto Stöcklin and is located close to Geneva, Switzerland. The purpose of this not-for-profit foundation is to promote the knowledge on animals, plants and micro-organisms producing toxins and related substances for the benefit of mankind and nature.
The major objectives of the Toxinomics Foundation are to support:
- Scientific Research
- Medical Development
- Education
- Communication

The Foundation is aimed at supporting the ambitious system genome project called Venomics that was born among the International Society of Toxinology (IST) members. The Foundation is a legal body that will be at the interface between the scientific community, funding agencies, research institutes, pharmaceutical companies and the public.
