Missions of the Toxinomics Foundation

The Toxinomics Foundation is a legal non-profit entity primarily created to assist the International Society of Toxinology and its members. Its missions are diverse. The Foundation aims in particular at serving in projects dealing with toxins to help facilitating the development of toxins or related substances as potential drugs. It has been also created to promote and communicate its knowledge of the venomous world to a large public.

Technology Transfer and Drug Development:

The Foundation will help in identifying intellectual property rights, their protection and exploitation. It will also provide support in the commercialisation of new toxin-related products using its expertise in patentability, out-licensing and searching for potential licensing opportunities.

More precisely the Toxinomics Foundation can be officially involved as a partner in any public or private application where it can play the role of a technology transfer office, to help discoverers to develop their toxin-related products.

Communication and Education:

The Toxinomics Foundation is sensitive to sustainable development, environmental and biodiversity issues. As a non-profit entity, its role is also to promote the protection of toxin-producing organisms with a special focus on venomous animals whose biodiversity is a great source of potential bioactive molecules. The description of the Foundation would not be complete without mentioning its will to educate the public to the richness of the venomous world and the necessity for human beings to preserve it.
