The Toxinomics Foundation was first aimed at supporting the ambitious system genome project called Venomics that was born among members of the International Society on Toxinology. The stepping stone of this initiative was laid by the CONCO project, "The cone snail genome project for health".

From poisons, venoms and toxins, the interests of the Foundation naturally broadened to all other bioactive substances used by Nature.

In general the Foundation is eager to participate in scientific projects dealing with toxins and all other biologically active or innovative molecules issued from terrestrial or marine biodiversity.
The expertise and fields of interest of the Fondation cover all scientific domains from scientific expeditions to commercialisation such as chemistry, biochemistry, biology, taxonomy, proteomics, genomics, bioinformatics, drug discovery, etc.
